Crowd control

Type Spell Use
Stun Cyclone This is a short crowd control spell, but completely incapacitates the target, making them immune to damage and healing for 6 seconds. This is primarily a PvP CC, but can be used in PvE.
Sleep Hibernate

Druids may be asked to "sleep" beasts or dragons in dungeons, to assist with crowd control.

For PvP, you can also use Hibernate on hunter pets (although Bestial Wrath breaks the effect), and even other druids in feral forms.

Root Entangling Roots

Entangling Roots can be used to root melee mobs in one place. This is useful when you need to stop a melee mob from beating on you or another group member, because you can move away from the rooted mob to continue healing. However, if you stand next to a rooted mob, it will remember that you were close to it and may attack you later.

Root Nature’s Grasp

Nature’s Grasp acts like a root in the same way as Entangling Roots, but it is a three-charge self-buff that acts as protection against being meleed. When a mob hits you, it becomes rooted, and you can move away from it. You can cast it in any form, and it is a brilliant defensive ability. If you are being pursued by a mob, or you need to get away because one is beating on you and interrupting your casts, you can use Nature’s Grasp, wait for the mob to hit you and proc the roots, and then step away. Works 3 times – either 3 times on a single mob, or once each on up to three mobs.

Tip: If you are a miner, you can also use this to keep a melee mob busy while you mine nodes. Simply walk or fly up to the mob, stand a short distance from the node (out of melee range), and hit Nature’s Grasp. Wait for the mob to attack and become rooted, then go mine your node. Anyone who has ever had a node stolen while they were busy clearing nearby mobs will appreciate how valuable this tactic is!
